Georgia Recruiting: 2014 LB Raekwon McMillan, “My whole family are Dawg fans” [VIDEO}

McMillan has made it clear that his in-state love for the Georgia Bulldogs won’t play into his decision one bit—despite the influence of those around him.

“As a Georgia boy, you want to stay at home, but you know there may be better opportunities, better blessings out there for you,” McMillan said. “Every offer I have right now is a blessing — even a Division II offer from Alabama State is a blessing. But if you feel there are more opportunities for you out there and you feel better at a different college, then you need to do what is right for you and not just stay at home to make your home state proud. Do what is right for you.” (Radi Nabulsi, “Raekwon McMillan talks top five”, DawgNation, 10/30/12)

It’s still a very long way to 2014, but Ohio State appears to be a definite favorite of McMillan right now and, given Urban Meyer’s success recruiting the southeast region, that doesn’t surprise me.

That said, when it comes to recruiting the top prospects in the nation, the competition is always fierce, no matter where it’s coming from and, where McMillan is concerned, you’re talking about a player who has better than two dozen offers to consider and he’s only a junior.

At 6’3″, 235+ pounds, McMillan is projected to be a beast at his position of linebacker (provided he doesn’t grow out of the position altogether). He moves well, he’s athletic, he’s got great range, and carries huge potential as a possible impact player at the next level. Already, this season, through eight games, he has tallied 123 tackles and eight sacks.

The kid is a flat-out player and he’s still not finished developing or growing.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Georgia can keep him in-state but, as of now, he appears to be wide open.
