College Football: FSU Appears Ready to Call Matthew Thomas’ Bluff

As Corey Dowlar states in the interview, It will likely be next week before we learn anything final about Florida State signee Matthew Thomas, but it’s clear that the Seminoles aren’t looking to let him go without having a sit down with him and, possibly, his mother (the person Thomas states most influenced his decision). Either way, this is a PR wreck just waiting to happen—especially if Thomas ends up in Tallahassee, against his will, and decides he’d rather not play like the top flight linebacker people expect him to be.

Jimbo Fisher is definitely in a precarious situation, but I don’t know that it makes sense to stand oyur ground with a player who clearly doesn’t want to play for you—letter or no letter—a guy like that can become a distraction and, potentially, a negative influence on your team as a whole.

I just don’t know if the lesson is worth the risk in this case.
