Georgia Recruiting: 2013 CB Shaq Wiggins is Ready to Show What He Can Do

The latest Georgia commit to receive his Under-Armour jersey is cornerback Shaq Wiggins. I’ve profiled Wiggins more than a few times here and have not been shy about saying he’s one of my sleeper picks for the 2013 class. That said, I would be remiss if I didn’t share the ceremony at which he was finally able to officially receive his Honorara Under-Armour Jersey.

And here, Wiggins speaks with 11Alive:

As far as where he stands with the Bulldogs, he continues to be one of the most outspoken members of the 2013 class—making sure he sells the program every bit as well as the coaches.

Since he committed in February to Georgia, Wiggins has utilized his vocal nature to try and help bring other top recruits to Athens. But Wiggins thinks there is more to his efforts than simply recruiting.

“I am not just trying to get kids to come to Georgia just because they are elite players,” Wiggins said. “I am trying to develop a relationship with them because we will not all play football forever.”

As for his plans next fall, the four-star defensive back hopes to make an immediate impact in Georgia’s secondary.

“Georgia is lacking at cornerback after this year, so if I can come in and get bigger, I think I can fill that role in the nickel that Damian Swann has done in the past and make a name for myself,” Wiggins said.

Like I said, I’ve been thoroughly impressed with Wiggins for a long while now and I cannot wait to see what he does in a red and black jersey.
