Former Georgia running back and first-round draft pick, Knowshon Moreno, is in hot water in Denver thanks to a recent DUI arrest. Moreno was pulled over for going 25 miles over the posted speed limit (according to published reports, Moreno was driving 70 mph in a 65 mph zone, but the speed limit was adjusted to 45 mph due to construction by the Colorado DOT).
Moreno is in the fourth year of a five-year rookie contract and he’s not been able to maintain any level of consistency as an every-down back in Denver since his arrival there in 2009. This season he sustained an ACL injury that shortened a promising 2011 season and with this most recent matter you have to wonder if Denver is ready to go in another direction at running back.
“We take the incident involving Knowshon Moreno very seriously, and are thoroughly reviewing this matter. Our organization will continue to gather information and closely monitor this issue while the legal process takes it course.”
Adding insult to injury is the fact that Moreno’s license plate read “SAUCED” which, considering his offense wasn’t likely the best idea in the world.
