Michail Carter (Jackson, Ga.) has been a priority for the Georgia coaching staff for quite some time now. The Bulldogs have to get better along the front lines, and it would be nice to build around true freshman stud Trenton Thompson. As of now, Carter has plans to announce sometime in December, before the Under-Armour All-American Game, and Georgia has certainly put themselves in good position with him.
“I’m talking to Coach (Tracy) Rocker and Coach (Mark) Richt the most,” Carter said. “(Rocker) is a down-to-Earth guy. Whatever he tells you is truthful. He doesn’t sugarcoat. He’s not shy about what he says. If he tells you something, I believe him.”
Richt has similarly impressed.
“He has that preacher-kind of vibe to him, and I like that, because I’m very religious, as well. I put God first before anything. That’s one of the things he does well.” (Jake Reuse, UGASports.com)
Carter’s close ties to defensive line coach Tracy Rocker have played a big part in Carter’s continued interest in Georgia and, barring any significant changes to the staff during the off-season, many feel the Bulldogs are in the best position to lock him down come National Signing Day.
That said, Carter is also very interested in Alabama and once he starts lining up his official visits, they will be sure to garner one, so the Bulldogs will continue to keep the pressure on him until he puts pen to paper in February.
