Georgia Recruiting: JaQuay Williams Believes Shaq Wiggins Will Fall “in love” With A&M

Shaq Wiggins has his officials all lined up and the Aggies will have the last shot at him. Will JaQuay Williams be the difference?

The longtime defensive back commit, Shaq Wiggins, has been playing the proverbial field over the last few months. Every SEC school from Florida to South Carolina to Ole Miss has waited patiently on the talented DB’s call; some with a good idea where they stand, others just hoping to snag a date. And while Georgia still remains in the lead (albeit slightly) another school has emerged with a plan of it’s own on how they might garner his attention.

One reason the Aggies are in the picture, despite being one of the last schools to offer the Under Armour All-American, is due to his connection with Texas A&M signee JaQuay Williams.

“He’s on me pretty hard about A&M,” Wiggins said of his old teammate. “He told me if I go down there I’m going to fall in love with it and I’ll never come back to Georgia. We’re like brothers, basically whatever I like, he likes. We are very similar so I’ll guess we’ll see when I get down there.” (Taylor Hamm, 247Sports)

My how the tables have turned.

It wasn’t all that long ago when JaQuay Williams was thought to be a near-lock for the University of Georgia after the talented JUCO receiver lost interest in Auburn. However, Williams spurned Georgia (again) and decided A&M was the better fit for him and he’s now enrolled and attending classes in College Station.

Does that mean Wiggins, who at one point stated that he and Williams would play together, will follow? To hear Wiggins tell it, not necessarily.

While it’s true that Wiggins is looking hard at other schools—to the point of rabid frustration of countless Bulldog fans—it’s also true that Georgia continues to be the school he holds closest to his heart…even if they don’t always appear to be on his mind.

…with Georgia it’s a comfortable spot and I feel real comfortable there,” he said. “I’ll make a decision after I take all my visits but I think I have a pretty good idea where I’m going. I think it’s going to be pretty difficult to beat Georgia out but I’m not saying it’s possible or not possible. Wherever I feel the most comfortable is where I’ll be.” (Taylor Hamm, 247Sports)
