The Georgia Bulldogs currently have the No. 1 prospect in the nation, according to Rivals recruiting service, and he goes by the name of Jacob Eason (Lake Stevens, WA).
Eason is a 5-star quarterback who committed to the Bulldogs this past July. Rivals recruiting analyst Mike Farrell says Eason puts him in the mind of another former Georgia quarterback—Matthew Stafford—and feels the Bulldogs are getting a solid prospect for 2016.
Though Eason has had a very good junior season for Lake Stevens High School (2829 yards, 32 td’s, 3 int’s, for a 133.2 QBRating), he’d be the first to tell you that he has a long way to go to become the quarterback he wishes to be when he sets foot in Athens—footwork is certainly an area he’d like to improve upon and he’s almost certain to add a few more pounds to his 6’5, 205 pound frame, to prepare for the hits he’ll face in the SEC.
Eason’s stellar arm, good pocket presence, and overall ability to make the tough throw is something to get excited about when you begin speaking of his potential. He’s certainly got a phenomenal set of skills and he should be a very good player for the Bulldogs—if they’re able to hold onto him.
