Georgia Bulldog Defensive Coordinator Jeremy Pruitt continues to put in the work necessary to get the players he needs on the football field next season. While the Bulldogs were in Arkansas last week, Pruitt saw fit to contact 3-star (according to Rivals recruiting service) prospect Dre Greenlaw (Fayetteville, Arkansas) and he made a good impression.
“Coach Pruitt sent me a message letting me know he watched film on me and loves the way I play and then he sent me another message where he said he wanted me to know I have an offer from Georgia,” Greenlaw told UGASports. “He said he’s going to call me soon and they will have somebody at my game [tonight].”
The offer left Greenlaw very excited.
“It’s a blessing,” he said. “They have a great program and I feel like I would fit in very well in their program. Coach Pruitt is a good coach and I trust him. I’m not quite sure what position they offered me at. I think we are going to discuss that tomorrow.” (Dan McDonald, Rivals)
Greenlaw doesn’t have elite speed, so it’s unlikely he’d be placed in a corner position, but he does have the size–at 6’0, 210 pounds—to play safety at the next level. Honestly, if he continues to add weight to his frame (which he still has time to do), he could develop into a linebacker before it’s all said and done.
He’s got good instincts and makes good jumps on the ball after the snap, and takes good angles when approaching the ball carrier in zone coverage. He’s a solid tackler, who makes good decisions, and would be a nice compliment to any defense.
