Even though the home state Miami Hurricanes continue to recruit him, American Heritage running back, Sony Michel, is still firmly committed to the Georgia Bulldogs.
See him talk a bit about his season, his commitment, and his focus the rest of the way:
For those who might be wondering how Georgia’s recent losses are effecting Michel’s thought process—as far as his level of commitment—there doesn’t seem to be any reason to believe he’s been fazed much, if at all; if anything, he’s seen just how quickly he could make an impact.
As for Miami’s potential pitch to Michel, while they dodged a bullet with the NCAA sanctions in regards to further bowl bans, they will have to work around a slight reduction in scholarships (a total of nine) over the next three seasons—according to reports by Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports—but with Miami’s program on the rise, (the Hurricanes are currently in the Top 10 of the BCS) they have a shot at a BCS berth if they are able to finish the year out strong; such success is bound to look good to any prospect.
Miami’s recruiting class ranks in the Top 5 (according to 247 Sports) and has one top-tier tailback prospect in 4-star Joseph Yearby, but you’d have to figure they’d love to add a guy like Michel to really solidify the position going into next season.
Will Michel jump ship? I don’t believe he will—he’s been solid from he beginning, and even in the video reiterates the fact that he’s enjoying being able to focus on his senior season with his commitment out of the way—but you can never take anything for granted in the recruiting world, can you?
