Georgia Recruiting 2011: TE Jay Rome Has The Dawgs in His Top 5

Last week, Jay Rome named his Top 5 and the Georgia Bulldogs made the cut along with Tennessee, Florida, Clemson, and Alabama. The 6’6”, 240 lb, tight end is considered to be one of the top players at his position for 2011.

Rome is definitely a major target for the Dawgs next season so the fact that Georgia made his Top 5 speaks volumes about how significant their chances are to nab him come 2011. Add to that, Rome is a self-professed Bulldog fan who has followed the red and black for quite some time now—their tradition at tight end makes them an even bigger plus.

He also states that many of his friends have been in his ear about attending the home state school and it is something that he is considering very closely, especially given the recent commitment of Christian LeMay. The knowledge that a big-time quarterback is on his only adds more luster to Georgia’s shine.

It’s still a long way until signing day, but the Dawgs continue to set their sights on the best of the best and that is good to see.
