Georgia Football: Will Toby Johnson Be the “X-Factor”?

ESPN’s Edward Aschoff believes the “X-Factor” for the Georgia Bulldogs will be defensive lineman, Toby Johnson. Here’s why:

While I completely agree that the front line play will need to get better this season—I would like to see more pressure up front than I did last year—I also feel that the production from the front four is less hinged on the individual performance of one than it is on the performance of the entire unit.

Last year there seemed to be an unequal effort, across the board, depending on the guys on the field. Leaders were hard to come by and there was some inconsistency from No. 1 vs. No. 2; I hope that changes with better coaching and a more cohesive goal to keep the pressure on for four quarters as opposed to within a particular package.

I expect Johnson to be a bigger presence in 2014 than he was in 2013, but I also look for the entire defensive line to kick things up a notch.
