Georgia Football: Mark Richt on Jeremy Pruitt, “…he expects guys to pick it up quick”

If you wanted, or still needed, any explanation as to why some guys are no longer here, I think Mark Richt just told everyone—without even trying.

“He’s a very good communicator. He’s a good teacher,” UGA head coach Mark Richt said of Pruitt. “But he expects guys to pick it up quick. He doesn’t have time for a guy who’s not serious about learning what to do [emphasis added]. He’s going to get on the guy, and that guy will just move back in the depth chart.” (Gentry Estes, Dawgs247

And if that wasn’t enough, there was this from defensive back Damian Swann,

Senior cornerback Damian Swann thinks back to spring and says he “kind of” knew then that all the guys in the secondary wouldn’t be back in the fall, “because a lot of guys haven’t seen that style of coaching.”

…“A lot of guys haven’t really seen a coach like Pruitt come through here and come through here and coach our position,” Swann said. “I could tell that … it’s one of those things that’s not for everybody. Just as much as a guy doesn’t want to be coached or a guy doesn’t like the coaches, after a while nobody is going to want to coach him. That’s just how it goes.” (Gentry Estes, Dawgs247)

Look, no one has any idea what’s going to happen with this defense, but I’ll continue to say they cannot be worse than they were last season.

And while I am sure they will, at times, stumble, frustrate, and befuddle, they will not stink. I simply cannot see that happening.
