Georgia Football: Garrison Smith is Leaving It All on the Field

After seeing how emotional senior Garrison Smith was following Georgia’s win over Florida this past Saturday, it would be tough for any fan of this storied program not to love him.

Just take a look for yourself:

From the very beginning of this season—as early as fall practice—Smith proudly took on the mantle of “leader”. He wanted to be the guy all the young players looked to as an example, both on and off the football field. And while he can’t take responsibility for all the miscues and mishaps the defense has gone through this season, it is safe to say that his play up front has been pretty consistent all year, and that’s saying a lot for a unit that has heard its fair share of criticism this season.

That said, with the Florida game behind them, there are still plenty of games on the docket that could help sell the positive turn the defense seemed to take this week, and you can bet more than one of the teams Georgia will face has the goods to make a BCS run if they continue their winning ways—yes, I’m referencing the Auburn Tigers.

For now, however, it’s all about getting prepped and ready for Appalachian State, and not allowing the emotional high from the Florida win to make for another close call against a lesser opponent.
