Florida Gator head coach Will Muschamp’s treatment of one high school football program’s players is making a few headlines in South Florida. Dwyer High School football coach, Jack Daniels (you gotta love that name), says that he doesn’t feel his guys have been getting a fair shake from the Gators’ coaching staff over the last few years, and the mass exodus of some of his best players is proof.
“None of my guys, thank God, have gotten in trouble, I just didn’t think they were treated fairly,” says Daniels.
While the article highlights the departures of several former Dwyer High products—including Gerald Christian and Robert Clark—Daniels’ main beef appears to be with the decision of former quarterback Jacoby Brissett to transfer this past off-season due to a lack of playing time. Brissett was once the starting QB for the Gators, but lost his spot to Jeff Driskel after only a handful of starts and Daniels feels the coaching staff at Florida gave him a raw deal.
